COMIC REVIEW
Dick Turpin & the Restless Dead
Time Bomb Comics

Writer: Steve Tanner
Artist: Andrew Dodd
Reviewer: Jordan

Tanner and Dodd return with their retro feel comics. This time they move into DC Thompson territory further with the tale of 'Dick Turpin and the Restless Dead.'

The comic book shelves are full of zombie books at the moment and the Tanner/Dodd partnership are stepping away from the normal fair in going back in history rather than sticking to science fiction. Its not steampunk but it is once again refreshing enough to be worth sticking your hand in your pocket for.

The artwork really does the story justice and fans of British comics from their heyday will get the most out of the story. Tanner and Dodd create comics that everybody can tap into, everybody can enjoy. It is nice books like this that keep the independent movement alive and fresh.
The only criticism that I can level at the book is the panels are a little small, it makes the graphics a little darker and harder to see than they need to be and there is a reason Eagle and Tiger etc were bigger in size. It's a shame because Dodd's artwork is a joy and it would be nice to see it properly. Steve Tanner's writing shines as it did with Ragamuffins, unlike which Dick Turpin is more relaxed in its production and doesn't appear to be shoehorned into a single issue.

Still no sign of colour in their books but I was reliably informed that there will be a colour book in the future. With the Furies still to come early next year Time Bomb is going from strength to strength, if you cannot find their range at conventions or in shops you can always buy issues from their online shop (www.timebombcomics.com). Whilst there take a look at the new titles and enjoy a first look at The Furies.
